Bridging Culture
Development and Growth
ICCDA responds to this gap by bringing together policymakers, cultural practitioners,
academics, development partners, creative entrepreneurs, and diaspora stakeholders to critically examine how culture can drive inclusive growth, sustainable development, and social transformation.
International Conference on Culture,Development and Transformative Change in Africa
Culture is a vital pillar of sustainable development. It shapes identity, strengthens social
cohesion, fosters innovation, and drives inclusive economic growth. Africa’s rich cultural
heritage can therefore be seen as more than history. It can lay the foundation for innovation,
unity, and sustainable growth. Yet, the potential of culture continues to lag behind in
mainstream development practice.
About Us
The International Conference on Culture and Development in Africa (ICCDA) is conceived as a strategic platform to reposition culture as a central pillar of Africa’s development agenda. While culture remains one of the continent’s most valuable assets for shaping identity, social cohesion, creativity, and innovation, it is still insufficiently integrated into development policy, planning, and investment frameworks across Africa.
